Attend Workshops to Network and Strengthen Your Communication Skills

Updated: Jul 29, 2019

12th Annual Student & Postdoctoral Fellow Workshop-OU Vision Workshop began in 2006. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows working in vision research have the opportunity for additional experience in strengthening their presentation skills. Thanks to Presbyterian Health Foundation and Dean McGee Eye Institute for your financial support.

I had the privilege to attend the the OU Vision Workshop on October 18-19, 2018 at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center's Dean McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City, OK.

Attending the workshop has further prepared me for national conference meetings and strengthen my interactions with my peers and faculty who conduct vision research. I received positive constructive feedback that has further improved my critical thinking skills as a young scientist. The positive and exciting environment has played a significant role in preparing me to become a confident and effective communicator in vision research.

For the 3rd Robert E. Anderson Lectureship the distinguished OU Vision Workshop keynote speaker, Dr. Patricia A. D'Amore, shared ground-breaking research on angiogenesis and intraocular vascular diseases followed by a a motivational speech titled "From Cheerleader to Here: Definitely not a Straight Line". Dr. D'Amore is the Director of Research and Director of the Howe Laboratory of the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Professor of Ophthalmology at Charle L. Schepens, and Professor of Pathology and co-Director of the AMD Center of Excellence at Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA.
